“Band of Moose” (aka “Moose”)
formed December 2005 when Huntsville High School students discovered their shared musical talents. From early jam sessions in the basement of Will Smith’s home, everything clicked with the foursome from the beginning. The band quickly discovered that it was meant to be. “Moose” is: Will Smith (Drummer), Spencer Daniel (Vocals, Guitar), Keith Gray (Bass, Keyboards, Vocals), and Wesley Low (Lead Guitar).
From early jams, the band struck a chord with its creativity, harmony, rhythm, and transition breaks. At the ripe ages of 16-to-18 years old, “Band of Moose” wrote, recorded, and produced its 8-original songs that became their debut CD, “Music of Our Lives”. Early band profits financed two trips to the recording studio (SoundCell Studios, Huntsville, AL) where band recorded: "Music of Our Lives," "Jungle Love," "Freckle Face," and "Right Direction" in July 2006; and then returned in December to record: "Heal My Pain," "Genesis," "Blue to Grey," and "Maggie." Between recordings, the band’s popularity made local papers and caught the attention of Radio Program Director, Jimbo Wood (WRTT, The Rocket, FM95.1 Huntsville) and title-track, “Music of Our Lives”, received its first airplay. “Those kids are writing music well beyond their years. Wow, they blew me away . . .” said Woods.
“Band of Moose” returned to the recording studio in August 2008 and July 2009, traveling to Nashville, TN and the recording studios of Eric Reason. Now at the ages of 19-21 years of age, Moose delivers new recordings featuring 4-new songs (“Get up”, “Down”, “Hard Working Man”, and “Language Fails”) and the remake of “Heal My Pain” and “Genesis”, on a CD demo release known as “The Nashville Sessions”. Drawing on their love of classic rock and progressive jams, the band presents its original/through-back/innovative sound that is now recognizably “Moose”.
The band maintains home-base out of Huntsville Alabama, but it’s routinely assembled when members converge from their respective campuses to perform at venues across the Southeast. Will Smith and Spencer Daniel both attend Auburn University. Wesley Low attends the University of Alabama. Keith Gray forms the geographical triangle while attending Birmingham-Southern College. Moose maintains their tight-bound and natural music collaboration while they deal with weekday separation.
“Moose” is available to converge and play at your next concert, social, party, dance, shindig, hoedown, get-down, jamm’n, good tim’n, festival, thang.
